Job Title: Transport Planner
Location: Southampton
Hours: Monday to Friday Days, 45 hours per week
Salary: Up to £37,000 DOE

My client, a leading logistics and transport operator, is actively seeking to employ an experienced Transport Planner to join their busy and growing team based in the Southampton area.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a professional operation. You will play a key role in ensuring the efficient and compliant running of a modern fleet, working within a supportive and forward-thinking transport team.
As a Transport Planner, you will be required to:
- Plan and route deliveries and collections across the UK
- Liaise effectively with drivers and customers to maintain a high level of service
- Ensure compliance with all road transport legislation and the Working Time Directive (WTD)
- Manage driver hours, trailer rotation, and general fleet utilisation
- Plan and monitor container movements
- Use a Transport Management System (TMS) and other digital tools to manage day-to-day operations
- Complete all administrative tasks accurately and efficiently
- Work closely with colleagues in the wider operations team to maintain service excellence
What the successful Transport Planner will need:
- Previous experience in a transport planning or transport office role
- Strong geographical knowledge of the UK road network
- Experience in planning container or groupage loads
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Good IT skills, including the use of TMS or Mandata software
- A proactive, problem-solving approach and strong team ethic
- Desirable: CPC qualification (not essential but advantageous)
Hours & Benefits
- Hours: Monday to Friday, rotational shifts between 06:00 and 18:00
- Weekend Work: 1 in 4 Saturday mornings, 6am to 12pm (additional payment provided)
