Position:                Workshop Manager
Location:               Elland
Salary:                    £40,000 OTE £45,000
Shift:                      Days M-F
Hours:                    Monday to Friday 7:30 am - 4.00pm (38.75hrs)
Overtime:           Available at an enhanced rate 
Benefits:             Pension: 6% employer, 5% employee ,25 days holiday (plus statutory), Death in service 3x annual salary, Company sick pay scheme on passing 6 months probationary.

About your new Workshop Manager role

Opportunity to join the market leading supplier of specialist vehicles, equipment and support to the UK logistics, distribution, port, industrial, aviation, fire and rescue, road and rail sectors as the HGV Workshop Manager.
To manage the overall performance of the HGV Technicians (circa 30) within the workshop team.  
To ensure work is carried out efficiently and to the correct standard / specification in order to meet the target dates within standard repair times.

Duties of the Workshop Manager

  • This role is 100% off the tools 
  • The prioritisation and efficient management of work primarily within the workshop or at customer’s site (if appropriate).
  • Support engineers from a technical
  • Ensure that the quality and completeness of work undertaken within the team is both to the required standard and specification.
  • Ensuring that each vehicle job-sheet is correctly and accurately completed to reflect all work undertaken including labour hours, parts and ancillary costs with all completed job paperwork processed the same day and passed to the workshop administrative controller.
  • Providing and maintaining a safe, clean and efficient engineering environment and work area.

Required skills for the Workshop Manager

  • A solid understanding and knowledge of:
    • Effective workshop control and supervision.
    • Assisting in handling sensitive people issues.
    • Employee relations issues.       
  • Good Excel Skills with good knowledge of other Microsoft Office systems i.e. Outlook and Word.
  • A good communicator who’s able to motivate, organise, mentor and delegate staff effectively
  • City and Guilds HGV Mechanic or equivalent working experience
  • Ideally you will have held a similar position within the commercial vehicle sector
