Job Title: Welder / Fabricator
Location: Dorking
Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday – 40 hours per week (Shift rotation: Early and Lates)
Overall Purpose of the Position
To assemble and weld parts and major fabrications in mild and stainless-steel materials, ensuring adherence to engineering specifications and company quality standards.
About the Company:
Our client is a highly regarded specialist in the repair and fabrication of HGVs, offering state-of-the-art new build and refurbishment services. With a strong reputation for quality and innovation, they are now expanding their team and seeking a skilled Welder / Fabricator to join their Dorking facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Weld and fabricate commercial vehicle bodies and chassis using MIG and TIG processes
- Assemble and weld components and major fabrications from engineering drawings
- Work with mild steel and stainless steel (1.6mm to 6mm thickness)
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and ISO quality standards
- Mark out, fettle, clean and finish parts to meet paint and finishing requirements
- Pressure and leak test fabrications as required
- Maintain high standards of self-inspection and reject substandard work
- Complete required work records and paperwork accurately and timely
- Follow all health & safety procedures in accordance with company policy and risk assessments
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Cross-train to gain full competency across multiple fabrication tasks
- Contribute to process improvements and support team initiatives
Skills & Attributes:
- Proficient in MIG & TIG welding
- Experience working with stainless steel
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
- High attention to detail and quality control
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to upskill and undertake welder coding
Qualifications:
- Recognised welding qualifications
- Welder approval certificates
- Completion of relevant intense welding training courses
