Horticultural Field Service Technician

We are seeking a Horticultural Field Service Technician to join an established team at my clients branch in Stevenage. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled technician to work on a variety of horticultural machinery and contribute to exceptional service delivery.

Role Overview:

Reporting to the Horticultural Service Manager, you will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and servicing of horticultural machinery sold by the company. This includes diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and ensuring equipment is fully operational for customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Repair and maintain horticultural machinery for customers
  • Diagnose faults and perform service work efficiently and safely
  • Work with hydraulic and electrical systems using the latest diagnostic software
  • Handle a range of utility, garden, or small agricultural machinery
  • Work independently using your own initiative and as part of a team
  • Lift and move heavy items safely, seeking assistance when needed
  • Provide excellent customer service, both face-to-face and over the phone
  • Use computers competently to support service activities

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Knowledge of domestic or professional grass machinery is advantageous
  • Ability to diagnose and repair hydraulic and electrical faults
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated with a proactive work ethic
  • Customer-focused with a professional approach
  • Comfortable working both independently and within a team

Additional Information:

  • Start Date: Subject to candidate’s notice period
  • Location: Steveange
  • Hours: 39 hours per week – Monday to Friday 
  • Contract: Permanent, full-time, hourly paid (overtime at time and a half)
  • Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
  • Benefits: Company van, 32 days holiday including bank holidays, workplace pension, staff discounts, company sick pay scheme, and employee referral scheme

There was an issue, however the matter has been resolved by the Operations manager Sam and the rest of the staff, including Matt. Very happy with the results.
