Job Title: Body Shop Manager
Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 per annum (DOE)
Hours: Monday to Friday
Location: Southeast England
We are recruiting an experienced Body Shop Lead to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of a vehicle body shop within a large fleet environment.
This role will lead a skilled team delivering high-quality body repairs, accident damage work, painting, glazing, and refurbishment across a commercial vehicle fleet. The successful candidate will ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard, supporting overall operational performance.
Key Responsibilities;
- Lead and manage the daily operation of the body shop, ensuring efficient workflow and minimal vehicle downtime
- Review existing processes and implement improvements to enhance productivity and integration with wider operations
- Supervise and support body shop staff, promoting a positive, professional and inclusive working culture
- Oversee accident damage repairs, bodywork, painting, glazing and refurbishment activities across the fleet
- Plan and deliver refurbishment programmes in line with business requirements
- Allocate work effectively and monitor progress against agreed targets
- Ensure all repairs meet safety, legal and presentation standards
- Carry out quality inspections and sign off completed work
- Use workshop IT systems to record work completed, manage job cards, update vehicle records and produce reports
- Work closely with engineering management, operational teams and external suppliers
- Promote and maintain high standards of Health & Safety, including COSHH compliance
- Ensure tools, equipment and facilities are maintained in a safe and serviceable condition
- Maintain accurate job documentation, records and stock control
- Support continuous improvement and best practice across the engineering function
- Contribute to skills development, including supporting apprenticeship or training programmes
About You;
- Proven experience in vehicle body repair, paint or refurbishment
- Previous experience supervising or leading a workshop team, or ready to step into a leadership role
- Strong understanding of workshop Health & Safety requirements
- Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities
- Effective communicator with a collaborative, team-focused approach
- Committed to quality, safety and continuous improvement
Desirable;
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Body Repair or Paint
- Experience working within a PSV or HGV Bodyshop
- Knowledge of DVSA / PSV standards
- PCV licence, or willingness to work towards one
