Salary: £47,147 per annum
Hours: 24/7 Shift Roster (2 days 6am–6pm, 2 nights 6pm–6am, 4 rest days)
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Overview
We’re looking for a Mechanical & Electrical Locomotive Fitter. This is a key role for a skilled fitter to carry out servicing, maintenance, and fault-finding on a modern fleet of both electric and diesel locomotives (including classes 08, 47, 66, 70, 86, and 90), ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance within a 24/7 operational depot.
Key Responsibilities
- As a Locomotive Fitter, you will maintain, service, fault-find, and repair locomotives in line with approved maintenance plans and company standards.
- Ensure pre-use checks on tooling and equipment are carried out and maintain high standards of workshop housekeeping and safety.
- Participate in training and competency assessments, and adhere to all environmental, safety, and procedural requirements.
What You’ll Need
- At least 3 years’ experience in Traction & Rolling Stock maintenance, repair, and fault-finding.
- Engineering qualification (preferably HNC standard in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering).
- Strong electrical and/or mechanical background with the ability to make sound engineering decisions.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Flexibility to work a rotating 24/7 shift pattern.
