External Sales Representative – Builders Merchant (New Business Focus)

Are you a driven sales professional who thrives on winning new business and taking market share from competitors?
We’re looking for a confident, results-focused External Sales Representative to help grow our presence by targeting customers we don’t currently supply and converting them into long-term partners.
This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys being out in the field, building relationships, and making things happen.
The Role

• Proactively identify and win new customers within your territory
• Target competitor accounts and increase market share
• Develop relationships with contractors, developers, and trade professionals
• Generate and follow up on leads through prospecting and networking
• Deliver tailored solutions and negotiate profitable agreements
• Work closely with internal teams to ensure excellent customer service
• Achieve and exceed sales targets and growth objectives
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and opportunities

What We’re Looking For

• Proven field sales experience (builders merchant or construction sector preferred)
• Strong track record of winning new business and growing accounts
• Commercially driven with a hunter mentality
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Self-motivated, organised, and target focused
• Knowledge of building materials or construction products (desirable)
• Full UK driving licence
