The role of Depot Manager
As Depot Manager, you will have full responsibility for the day-to-day running of a busy vehicle rental depot, managing a team of circa 18 staff (drivers and office-based colleagues).
The majority of customers are corporate and contract-based, with minimal retail interaction.
You will work closely with senior leadership while being trusted to run the depot independently, driving performance, engagement, and standards across the site.

- Manage rotas, attendance, performance, and day-to-day people issues
- Act as the main point of contact for customers, primarily corporate clients
- Drive improvements in service, efficiency, and depot performance
- Handle operational challenges calmly in a fast-paced environment
- Manage workload peaks and react quickly to changing circumstances
- Embed consistent standards, processes, and accountability
- Work closely with senior management, operations, and finance teams
- Take ownership of the site and lead it forward

You will be:
- A strong people manager who builds trust and engagement
- Comfortable managing long-standing team members and driving change
- Not a clock-watcher – flexible, committed, and resilient
- Confident dealing face-to-face with customers and stakeholders
- Able to think on your feet and use initiative
- Organised, decisive, and calm under pressure
- Previous depot, branch, operations, or large-site management experience
- Backgrounds from retail management, hospitality management, logistics, or similar environments are highly suited
- Vehicle rental experience not required – full training provided
