PSV Master Tech
Location: Heckmondwike
Pay: £24 P/H
Hours: 38 Hours Per Week
Shift: Monday to Friday (Days)
We’re working with a nationwide commercial fleet operator looking for a qualified PSV Master Tech to join their Heckmondwike site. If you’re confident with inspections, diagnostics and repairs, this could be your next step.
What you’ll be doing in your new PSV Master Tech Role
- Lead advanced mechanical and electrical fault diagnosis across the PSV fleet.
- Identify and repair faults within engines, transmissions, axles, vehicle body systems and high-voltage components.
- Work with modern vehicle technologies including CAN bus systems, after-treatment exhaust systems, multiplex wiring networks, Euro 5/Euro 6 powertrains and hybrid systems.
- Serve as the primary technical specialist for complex fault finding, carrying out root cause analysis and monitoring system reliability and performance.
- Take ownership of technical campaigns and fleet inspection programmes, ensuring vehicles comply with safety regulations and operational standards.
- Provide technical guidance to the Engineering Manager and collaborate with OEM suppliers, chassis manufacturers and external technical support teams.
- Assist depot engineers with technical issues and support the development of apprentices through mentoring and guidance.
- Participate in engineering projects, trials and improvement initiatives on behalf of the wider engineering management team.
What you’ll bring to your new PSV Master Tech Role
- NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Bus & Coach Engineering, Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, or Automotive Engineering.
- Proven diagnostic skills using industry tools such as Cummins Insite, Volvo Tech Tool, ACTIA, WABCO, Xentry, or comparable systems.
- Solid understanding of vehicle electrical systems including wiring looms, harnesses, alternators, starter motors and multiplex systems.
- Competent in the use of IT applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook and specialist diagnostic software.
- Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Well organised, proactive and capable of managing priorities within a busy engineering workshop environment.
- Committed to ongoing professional development through manufacturer training and technical courses.
- Able to successfully complete a PCV medical (PCV licence training and upgrade will be provided)
