Description
Job Title: Indirect Buyer
Salary: £45,000k
Location: Dorking, Surrey
Hours: Monday to Friday Days – 37.5 hrs per week
Key Responsibilities
- To take responsibility for establishing, developing and negotiating pricing and supplier agreements for a range of goods and services.
- Responsibility for all indirect, consumable and maintenance suppliers across Dorking and depot sites.
- Maintain a high level of communication with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Check SAP/Manual purchasing requisitions daily.
- Instigate purchase orders and manage re-scheduling and expediting.
- Maintain and ensure all SAP data is accurate.
- Process and expedite purchase orders.
- Arrange sample first offs for approval.
- Supplier consolidation/reduction.
- Resolve invoice queries as necessary and in a timely manner.
- Deal with non-conformances, the return of goods, chasing credits etc.
- Willingly carry out any other duties deemed appropriate by the company.
- Participate with other departments in the selection and improvement of suppliers
- Invite and manage effective cost reduction activity, taking into consideration:
Required Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of purchasing within an engineering/manufacturing environment and an understanding of modern planning/purchasing techniques.
- A current clean full driving license.
- Good organisational/administration skills.
- Understanding of MRP and Kanban philosophies would be an advantage.
- Good IT Skills i.e. SAP, Word and Excel
- The ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal) and able to interface with other departments – able to be a team player.
- Work with other buyers to reduce supply base through consolidation of purchase spend
- Support department in performance improvement plans i.e. re-scheduling, overdue orders.
- Resolve invoice queries as necessary
- Willingly carry out any other duties deemed appropriate by the company
