Annual Salary: £55,000
Shift Pattern: Dayshift, 38 hours per week
Location: Kilmarnock
Looking to lead a skilled engineering team and play a key role in the future of fleet maintenance?
We’re seeking an experienced and hands-on Engineering Manager to take responsibility for a well-established depot operation in Kilmarnock. This is a great opportunity to lead a capable team within a modern environment, overseeing fleet maintenance, engineering operations, and site facilities. You’ll also be instrumental in supporting the transition to new technologies, including electric vehicles and associated infrastructure, while ensuring safety, compliance, and operational efficiency remain at the forefront.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading a team of Bus engineers, Bus technicians, Bus cleaners, and apprentices to ensure the fleet is safe, clean, and ready for service
- Managing the maintenance and presentation of 84 service buses and 5 training vehicles
- Overseeing depot plant and building maintenance, ensuring compliance with all health & safety standards
- Handling day-to-day operations including resource planning, stock control, and procurement
- Coaching and developing team members, with a focus on continuous improvement and succession planning
- Working closely with senior leadership and contributing to wider operational and strategic initiatives
- Ensuring all activities meet regulatory standards, including DVSA requirements
What we’re looking for:
- Engineering experience within sectors such as bus, coach, HGV, or automotive
- Strong leadership capability, whether you’re already in a management role or ready to step up
- A proactive, organised approach with a strong focus on safety and compliance
- Experience managing budgets, inventory, and health & safety processes
- A commitment to maintaining high standards across fleet performance and presentation
