Job Title: Workshop Manager
Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum (depending on experience) + Company Car
Hours: Monday to Friday, Day Shifts
Location: Hatfield
About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced and driven Workshop Manager to oversee the daily operations of a busy and fast-paced engineering workshop in Hatfield. This is a key leadership position, responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and productive running of the workshop while maintaining high standards across all areas.
You will play a vital role in managing teams, maintaining compliance, and driving continuous improvement, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards and within agreed timeframes.
Key Responsibilities
- Taking full responsibility for Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance, ensuring all policies and procedures are adhered to at all times
- Managing and coordinating shift handovers, ensuring clear communication and continuity of work between teams
- Leading, mentoring, and supporting a team of engineers and workshop support staff to maximise productivity and performance
- Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the workshop, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow
- Monitoring workloads, planning resources, and ensuring deadlines and KPIs are consistently met
- Maintaining high standards of quality control and ensuring all work meets company and industry standards
- Identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing best practices
- Ensuring all staff are working in line with company policies and relevant legislation
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in a Workshop Manager or similar leadership role within an engineering or industrial environment
- A strong engineering background, with hands-on technical knowledge
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team
- Sound knowledge of employment law, Health & Safety, and Environmental legislation
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
- A professional qualification in engineering (or equivalent company-recognised qualification) is desirable
