Description
Job Title: Assistant Accountant
Location: Dorking
Hours: Monday to Friday Days – 37.5 hrs per week
Salary: Up to £35,000 Basic
*This is 6 month fixed term contract
This role is for an organised and detail-oriented finance professional, who will be supporting the accounting function within a busy finance department. Responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with reporting and compliance activities.
Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Accountant:
- Assist in maintaining and updating supplier accounts within the Accounts Payable function
- Process, scan, and post supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner
- Perform account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies
- Support the management of the fixed asset register, including asset creation and disposals
- Assist with physical audits of assets to ensure compliance with internal and statutory requirements
- Prepare and process manual payments for authorisation
- Contribute to the preparation of tax packs and financial reports
- Assist with month-end and year-end procedures
- Produce internal reports including accruals, IT, and R&D reporting
- Provide administrative and accounting support to senior finance staff
Skills & Competencies needed for the Assistant Accountant:
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Ability to analyse data and resolve discrepancies
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial systems
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
Experience & Qualifications required:
- Previous experience in a finance or accounting role preferred
- Knowledge of Accounts Payable processes and reconciliations
