Location: Alloa
Salary: £56,000 – £58,725 per annum (DOE & Qualifications)
Hours: Monday–Friday | 6:00am–4:00pm
Contract: 45 Hours Per Week
Senior HGV Supervisor – Lead a High-Performing Engineering Operation
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior HGV Supervisor to join one of the UK’s most respected transport and logistics organisations. Following a planned retirement, the company is seeking a dynamic Senior HGV Supervisor to take ownership of its flagship Airdrie workshop. The Opportunity
As Senior HGV Supervisor, you will be responsible for the overall performance of the workshop, ensuring maximum fleet availability, full compliance, and the highest engineering standards across the operation.
This role goes far beyond day-to-day supervision. You will be a key member of the depot leadership team, influencing operational performance, driving continuous improvement, developing engineering talent, and ensuring the workshop consistently delivers outstanding results.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all workshop and engineering activities
- Manage engineering teams, supervisors, and workshop personnel
- Ensure full compliance with all statutory and company requirements
- Drive a positive Health, Safety and Environmental culture throughout the depot
- Maximise fleet availability and operational efficiency
- Control workshop planning, scheduling, and resource allocation
- Manage MOT preparation, presentation, and compliance processes
- Review and challenge supplier, service, and parts costs
- Oversee warranty claims and supplier performance
- Build strong relationships with internal departments and customers
- Deliver coaching, mentoring, and performance management across the team
- Lead continuous improvement projects and operational enhancements
- Implement safe systems of work, risk assessments, and best practices
- Manage accident, incident, and near-miss investigations
- Support the introduction of new technologies, systems, and training initiatives
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified HGV Technician with progression into workshop supervision or management
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a senior supervisory or workshop leadership role
- Strong understanding of commercial vehicle maintenance, inspections, and compliance
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams
- Excellent organisational and planning capabilities
- Commercial awareness with a focus on cost control and operational performance
- Confident communicator capable of building relationships at all levels
- Experience managing busy, fast-paced workshop environments
Qualifications & Licences
- Class 1 or Class 2 Driving Licence
- NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or Mechanical Engineering
- CPC Qualification
