Job Purpose of the Maintenance Engineer
We are looking for a safety-focused and motivated Maintenance Engineer / Maintenance Fitter to join our maintenance team on a permanent late shift. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer with strong mechanical maintenance experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), responding to breakdowns, and ensuring the efficient operation of our MRF, SRF, and mobile plant equipment.
Main duties and responsibilities of the Maintenance Engineer
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across the site.
- Perform routine greasing, inspection, and servicing of plant equipment.
- Replace bearings, shafts, rollers, and other mechanical components.
- Diagnose and replace hydraulic hoses and associated components.
- Carry out breakdown repairs and fault finding on Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) and Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) processing equipment.
- Assist with maintenance and repairs on mobile plant.
- Reset electrical breakers and inverters and assist with basic electrical fault diagnosis.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and report any recurring issues.
- Work closely with operations teams to minimise downtime and maximise plant performance.
Abilities, Skills, and Knowledge required for the Maintenance Engineer
- Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Fitter, or similar role.
- Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding skills.
- Experience working with conveyors, bearings, shafts, hydraulic systems, and production machinery.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements within an industrial environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Desirable:
- Experience within recycling, waste processing, MRF, SRF, quarry, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments.
- Basic electrical knowledge, including breakers and inverter resets.
- Basic welding and fabrication skills.
- Mobile plant maintenance experience.
