Shift: Monday to Friday (Days)
Hours: 6am to 3pm (Flexible)
Are you an experienced workshop professional with a strong background in leadership? Do you enjoy developing teams, improving performance and ensuring a busy workshop runs efficiently?
We’re recruiting for a Workshop Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of a well-established commercial vehicle workshop supporting a large fleet of buses and coaches in Carlisle.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to step into a people-focused management role where you’ll have the autonomy to lead a skilled team and drive continuous improvement.
The Role As Workshop Manager, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day management of the workshop, ensuring maintenance and repair work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.
Working closely with the wider management team, you’ll lead and support a workforce that includes technicians, apprentices, body repair specialists and electrical staff, creating a positive and productive working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and develop the workshop team.
- Manage daily workshop operations to maximise productivity and efficiency.
- Monitor performance and address any people management issues where required.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with company and industry standards.
- Support the development of apprentices and less experienced technicians.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to maintain fleet availability.
About You We’re looking for someone with:
- Previous experience managing or supervising a commercial vehicle workshop.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- The confidence to manage performance and maintain high standards.
- A solid background within vehicle maintenance, HGV, PSV, bus, coach or fleet engineering.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Formal qualifications are welcomed but are less important than proven leadership ability and relevant industry experience.
