Job Title: Workshop Manager
Location: Castle Donington (with company car)
Hours: Monday to Friday (Days)
Salary: Up to £52,000k
Role Overview:
Responsible for the efficient running of the service depot, ensuring all company procedures, safety standards, and operational targets are met. Support the Regional Service Manager in delivering excellent service, managing team performance, and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe, clean, and secure depot environment at all times.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, image, and housekeeping standards.
- Oversee workshop and field service activities, ensuring high-quality repairs and job completion.
- Provide technical support on complex jobs and escalate high-risk issues.
- Ensure customer jobs are completed efficiently with accurate job reporting.
- Manage parts stock levels, engineer returns, and carry out regular stock audits.
- Process deliveries, dispatches, and warranty returns accurately and promptly.
- Monitor and improve KPI performance including first-time fix rate, staff utilisation, and WIP.
- Plan daily workshop loading and allocate tasks based on priority and capacity.
- Review and authorise timesheets and overtime; ensure accurate labour costing.
- Liaise regularly with customers to meet their service, parts, and technical support needs.
- Support engineer training and development in coordination with the Service Support Manager.
- Assist with budget control, job profitability, and departmental cost management.
- Maintain and review SOPs to ensure efficiency and compliance.
- Attend internal/external meetings as required (including occasional overnight stays).
- Provide cover for the Regional Service Manager when needed.
- Support ongoing improvement initiatives, safety audits, and performance reviews.
