Assistant Plant & Transport Manager

Location: Southampton
Salary: £34,000 – £36,000 
Hours: Monday to Friday

The Role We are seeking an organised and proactive Assistant Plant & Transport Manager to support the day-to-day running of a busy construction fleet. This role will suit someone with experience in plant hire, transport, or fleet administration who can manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

You will support the management of a fleet of 300 vehicles, plant, and various tools, as well as coordinating hired-in equipment when required.

Assistant Plant & Transport Manager Key Responsibilities:

• Support daily plant and transport operations.
• Manage fleet and plant records 
• Coordinate hired-in vehicles, plant, and equipment.
• Liaise with suppliers, drivers, engineers, and site teams.
• Complete general administration and reporting.
• Maintain spreadsheets using Excel and manage communications via Outlook.
• Assist with compliance, servicing schedules, and inspections.

Requirements needed from the Assistant Plant & Transport Manager:

• Experience within plant, construction, transport, or fleet management.
• Good understanding of plant and vehicle hire.
• Strong administration and organisational skills.
• Confident using Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to work under pressure and think on your feet.
