This is a senior new business development role for a proven sales professional who knows how to identify opportunities, build relationships at senior level and, most importantly, win and convert high-value new business.
You’ll take ownership of developing new revenue streams, expanding the market presence and building long-term relationships across key sectors. Working closely with the Group Commercial Director and wider business, you’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering our growth strategy.
My client is looking for a genuine hunter — someone who enjoys opening doors, creating opportunities and getting deals over the line.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies aligned with organisational goals to secure new clients and markets.
- Identify emerging industry trends and potential partnership opportunities to enhance competitive advantage.
- Lead negotiations and close high-value deals, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders to foster loyalty and repeat business.
- Oversee the management of CRM software, such as Salesforce, to track leads, sales pipelines, and customer interactions effectively.
- Collaborate with marketing and product teams to tailor offerings that meet client needs and market demands.
- Monitor performance metrics related to sales activities and adjust strategies accordingly to maximize results.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking functions to promote brand visibility.
Experience
- Proven track record of at least 8 years in business development or sales leadership roles within relevant industries.
- Extensive experience utilising CRM software like Salesforce or similar platforms for pipeline management.
- Strong understanding of sales methodologies, negotiation techniques, and client relationship management.
- Demonstrated ability to develop strategic plans that drive revenue growth and market expansion.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills suited for diverse audiences.
- Ability to analyse market data and translate insights into actionable business strategies.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams to align business objectives with operational capabilities.
What You’ll be doing
- Develop and execute a strategic business development plan aligned with the wider commercial objectives of the Group.
- Identify, target and convert high-value new business opportunities across agreed sectors, frameworks and strategic prospect accounts.
- Build relationships from site and project level through to board level, engaging senior decision-makers and key stakeholders.
- Deliver year-on-year revenue growth through new customer acquisition and strategic growth channels.
- Develop and manage a robust new business pipeline, reporting on activity, opportunities, conversion rates and revenue forecasts.
- Secure high-value contracts, strategic partnerships and framework agreements with national and strategic clients.
- Identify emerging market opportunities, customer needs and sector trends to support sustainable growth.
- Develop strong relationships with major contractors, infrastructure providers and relevant industry bodies.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure a seamless customer journey from initial opportunity through to contract award and onboarding.
- Contribute to pricing strategies, service innovation and digital transformation initiatives.
- Support bid management, tenders and commercial submissions.
- Monitor sales performance and provide regular pipeline, forecast and growth reports to the executive team.
- Ensure all business development activity aligns with Group strategy, governance and commercial objectives.
