HGV Class 1 Driver

I am currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver / MOT Lane Supervisor to join a busy commercial vehicle testing facility in Fareham.

This is a hands-on position involving the safe movement of HGVs around the testing facility, assisting with vehicle preparation and ensuring the MOT testing lane operates safely and efficiently.

This role would suit an experienced Class 1 Driver, HGV Shunter or Workshop Driver who is looking for a Monday–Friday position.

What’s on Offer?

• Hourly rate of up to £16.50 depending on experience.
• Monday to Friday working hours.
• Day shifts – 07:00 to 15:30.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely drive and manoeuvre HGVs around the testing facility.
• Oversee the smooth running of the MOT testing lane.
• Assist with preparing vehicles for testing.
• Ensure testing equipment is ready and compliant.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
• Carry out general handyman and labouring duties as required.
• Support the day-to-day operations of the testing facility.

Requirements

• Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence – Essential.
• Confident manoeuvring and positioning heavy goods vehicles.
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety.
• Reliable, organised and able to work independently.
• Basic mechanical knowledge would be advantageous.
• Previous experience within an HGV workshop, depot or testing environment would be beneficial.
