Writing a CV can be daunting, especially if your employment skills lay in more hands-on, mechanical fields.
But don’t worry, Kemp Recruitment is here to help! We specialise in this area and we know exactly what the recruiters are looking for in a Commercial Vehicle CV – and what experience you need to have for different roles. We can help you tailor that information and craft the perfect CV to get you noticed.
Our top 3 tips are:
1. Highlight your relevant experience
When applying for a commercial vehicle job, it’s important to highlight all the relevant experience you have. This could include previous work within the mechanic or transportation industry, experience driving commercial vehicles, or any experience in related fields.
Be sure to include specific examples of experience, such as the types of vehicles you’ve worked with / distances you’ve travelled, types of shift patterns you’ve worked.
2. Emphasise your skills
In addition to experience, it’s important to highlight your relevant skills in your commercial vehicle CV. This could include skills such as route planning, types of vehicle maintenance, safety compliance, people management, etc.
Be sure to provide examples of how you used these skills in previous jobs, and try to tie in how they would be relevant in the specific job you are applying for.
3. Include all qualifications and licences you have
It’s important to include any relevant qualifications or certifications you have.
Some examples include HGV Licence, Irtec, LOLER, Cat D Licence (or F, G, H, K, L), digital tachograph card, City & Guilds / NVQ Level Three in heavy vehicle service, maintenance and repair, etc.
Be sure to include the dates of any qualifications / certifications, as well as any relevant training or education you have received.
**To Note: ensure all your licences and qualifications are still in date!**
