HGV Technician – Newport

Pay: £20.00 per hour
Hours: 4 on 4 off shift pattern (12-hour shifts)
Overtime: Paid at 1.5x hourly rate

Earning Potential (OTE)

Basic (no overtime) = £41,600 per year
With 3h overtime per week = ~£46,300 OTE
With 5h overtime per week = ~£48,900 OTE

Must hold a recognised Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (NVQ / City & Guilds / IMI).

Overview We’re recruiting for an experienced HGV Technician to join a well-equipped commercial vehicle workshop in Newport. You’ll be working on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs to keep vehicles safe, roadworthy and compliant.

This role offers great earning potential with overtime available at time and a half, plus long-term stability and development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Routine maintenance, servicing and repairs on HGVs
Diagnose faults and complete repairs to DVSA standards
Prepare and present vehicles for MOT
Complete job cards and service records accurately
Maintain safe and tidy workshop standards

What You’ll Need

Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (NVQ/City & Guilds/IMI)
Proven workshop experience as an HGV Technician / Mechanic
Good diagnostic and fault-finding ability
Full UK driving licence (HGV licence beneficial but not essential)

What’s On Offer

OTE up to £48,900 per year with regular overtime
