Health & Safety Manager
Location: Hybrid with regular site travel
Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum
Hours: 42.5 hours per week
Contract Type: Full time permanent

Overview
This role suits a hands-on Health & Safety Manager who understands how things really work in a dealership environment. You’ll be responsible for health, safety and environmental standards across multiple automotive sites including workshops, customer areas and parts departments. The business is growing and genuinely invested in doing things properly, so you’ll have the authority and backing to improve standards rather than just manage paperwork.
Key Responsibilities
• Own and maintain the Health, Safety and Environmental management system across all sites
• Ensure compliance with UK H&S legislation across dealership operations
• Develop, review and implement policies, procedures and safe systems of work
• Carry out regular audits, inspections and site safety checks
• Support and manage external audits and regulatory visits
• Lead investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses
• Manage RIDDOR reporting where required
• Complete and review risk assessments in high-risk areas such as workshops, lifting equipment and paint facilities
• Drive a strong safety culture through visibility, engagement and practical support
• Deliver and coordinate H&S training including inductions, COSHH, manual handling and fire safety
• Oversee environmental compliance including waste oils, chemicals and hazardous materials
What You’ll Need
• NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification strongly preferred
• Membership of IOSH at Graduate or Chartered level ideal
• Working knowledge of ISO 45001 and experience maintaining or supporting accredited management systems
• IEMA qualification or environmental management experience beneficial
• Proven experience in a dedicated H&S role
• Background in automotive, engineering, manufacturing or similar technical environment
• Strong understanding of LOLER, PUWER, COSHH, DSEAR and workplace transport regulations
• Confident communicator able to influence managers and site teams
• Comfortable producing reports and using Microsoft Office
