HGV Mechanic

Hourly Rate: £18.00 – £22.00 per hour
OTE: £70,000 – £80,000+ per year
Hours: Monday – Friday rotating shifts:
Week 1: 06:00 – 14:30 | Week 2: 13:00 – 21:30

Earning Potential (OTE)

Hourly Rate: £18.00 – £22.00 per hour
Basic Salary: Circa £43,500 per year (based on 40-hour week)
Overtime Rate: Paid at time-and-a-half (1.5x)
Mobile Call-Outs: Additional earnings available for breakdown attendance on late shifts
Very Realistic OTE: £70,000 – £80,000+ per year including overtime and call-out payments

Overview
We’re looking for a skilled HGV Mechanic to join a well-respected commercial vehicle specialist in Burton-On-Trent. This role offers a rotating early/late shift pattern, with mobile call-out responsibilities on late shifts providing significant additional earning potential. You’ll benefit from a comprehensive benefits package including 30 days annual leave, life assurance, Health Shield scheme, and employee rewards. For the right candidate, IRTEC and Class 1 licence training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance and servicing of HGVs to industry standards.
Prepare and present vehicles and trailers for MOT inspections.
Diagnose and repair faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
On late shifts, attend mobile call-outs and breakdowns to support customers roadside.
Maintain workshop cleanliness and health & safety standards.
Accurately complete all required paperwork.

What You’ll Need

Level 3 Qualification (City & Guilds / NVQ) in HGV Mechanics or equivalent, or substantial time-served experience.
HGV licence is an advantage but not essential.
Diagnostic experience is beneficial.
A team player with a proactive approach to vehicle maintenance.
Willingness to cover mobile call-out duties on late shifts.
