Lead Product / Application Engineer – Trafford Park, Manchester
Salary: Up to £47,000 per annum (DOE)
Hours: 44 hours per week, Monday – Friday
Contract: Permanent
Overview
We’re looking for an experienced Product Engineer or Application Engineer to take a leadership role within an established bodybuilding manufacturing facility in Trafford Park. You’ll take full ownership of product engineering and application activity, setting standards, providing direction, and ensuring consistent, compliant delivery across the function. This is a central leadership position, working closely with Sales, Engineering, Production, and suppliers to create accurate, commercially sound engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce engineering-ready part lists and specifications
- Maintain supplier quotes and manage supplier costing
- Create order acknowledgements and documentation for customer issue
- Track quote status and report on customer conversions
- Liaise with customers regarding product specifications and requirements
- Ensure clear, accurate communication between Sales and Engineering
- Sign off build documentation and engineering specifications
- Manage product specifications within the Engineering function
- Maintain control of the product matrix and high-value parts lists
- Prepare and complete sales quotes for customers and the sales team
What You’ll Need
- Proven experience in a Product Engineer, Application Engineer, or similar role within manufacturing or vehicle bodybuilding
- Strong leadership capability with confidence to take ownership and be accountable
- Strong knowledge of engineering standards, regulations, and compliance requirements
- Strong CAD expertise is essential
- Ability to create accurate engineering plans, specifications, and quotations
- Commercial awareness to balance technical requirements with business needs
- Highly organised with strong planning skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent attention to detail across all documentation and processes
- Clear and effective communicator, able to work across departments
- Proactive and solutions-focused, with drive for continuous improvement
