About the Company
A large, nationwide tool, plant, and powered access hire business is seeking an experienced Hire Desk Manager to support and oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy depot.
This role sits at the heart of the operation, working closely with the hire desk, transport, and engineering teams to ensure equipment is delivered efficiently and customers receive a high level of service.
The Role
As Hire Desk Manager, your responsibilities will include:

- Work collaboratively with your Hire Desk colleagues to support hire across the UK.
- Manage the day-to-day activity of a hire area for Bennie Equipment and Bennie Plant where you will be striving to exceed customer expectations.
- Be responsible for supporting the team in all areas of short-term hire, including scheduling, contacting customers, booking transport, raising quotes, and invoicing.
- Lead the team to ensure all hire related administration is accurate and completed in a timely manner.
- Work with existing suppliers and identify new suppliers for cross-hire opportunities.
- Be required to build effective customer relationships and resolve customer issues promptly and effectively across our different branches.
- Manage and take ownership of all day to issues.
- Work closely with Service and Sales teams.
- Be compliant in the use of our Service CRM system, and actively engage with process improvement work and support the development of our CRM system.
- Develop and encourage the personal growth and development of the team, in line with the needs of the Business.
- Support the team in meeting their KPI’s.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience within plant hire, powered access, tool hire, or material handling
- Experience in a Hire Desk Manager, Senior Hire Controller, or supervisory hire desk role
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Confident IT skills, including Microsoft Office and hire management systems
- CPC qualification desirable but not essential
- Understanding of transport coordination or routing would be an advantage
