HGV Technician – Night Shift (Avonmouth)

Pay: £21.37 – £24.44 per hour (DOE)
Hours: Monday – Friday, 22:00 – 06:30 (Night Shift)
Contract: Permanent

Earning Potential (OTE)

Hourly Rate: £21.37 – £24.44 per hour
Basic Salary: £44,450 – £50,835 per year (based on 40-hour week)
Overtime: Available at 1.5x Rates
Realistic OTE: £52,000 – £55,000 with Overtime

Overview
We’re looking for an experienced HGV Technician to join our night shift team at a busy commercial vehicle workshop in Avonmouth. Working Monday to Friday nights (10pm – 6:30am), you’ll carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on a range of heavy goods vehicles. This role offers a competitive hourly rate, excellent benefits, and the opportunity to work with a world-leading manufacturer.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs to manufacturer standards
Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment
Complete all work in line with health & safety requirements
Maintain accurate job cards and service records
Liaise with the parts department to ensure timely access to required components
Work independently during night shifts, ensuring efficiency and quality

What You’ll Need

Recognised Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (NVQ/City & Guilds) or equivalent
Proven experience as an HGV Technician (main dealer experience desirable)
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
Full UK driving licence (HGV licence desirable)
Computer literate with good communication skills
Ability to work night shifts independently
