Driver / Yard Person – Avonmouth (also covering Gloucester / Swindon)

Pay: £30,000 per year
Hours: 40 hours per week, day shift (hours as per business needs)
Contract: Permanent

Earning Potential (OTE)

• Hourly Rate (equivalent): £14.42 per hour
• Basic Salary: £30,000 per year
• Overtime Rate: Paid at time-and-a-half (1.5x) – £21.63 per hour
• With 3 hours overtime per week: + £3,374 per year
• Realistic OTE: £33,374+ per year

Overview
We need a Driver / Yard Person with a valid HGV licence for a role based in Avonmouth, with occasional cover across Gloucester and Swindon. You’ll transport vehicles safely between locations, collect and deliver customer vehicles, present vehicles for MOT, and keep the yard organised and presentable.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate commercial vehicles – collect customer vehicles from various sites and present for MOT
• Carry out road tests of vehicles following workshop repairs and report findings to the Workshop Manager
• Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle checks, reporting any mechanical issues promptly
• Load and unload with care, ensuring items are secured properly during transit
• Assist with workshop operations as needed – maintain a tidy workplace and yard space
• Ensure vehicles are parked safely in designated areas
• General housekeeping of the yard area to maintain a safe working environment
• Maintenance of internal and external building and yard
• Flexibility to cover other locations (Gloucester / Swindon) as required

What You’ll Need

• Valid HGV C+E licence with a clean driving record
• Proven experience in commercial driving
• Strong communication skills to liaise with clients and team members
• Experience driving heavy goods vehicles
• Knowledge of mechanical systems related to commercial vehicles is advantageous but not essential
