Overview
We’re looking for a General Manager to take full ownership of a busy branch in Gloucester. This isn’t a desk job – it’s a hands-on leadership role. You’ll be running the show: leading the service department, overseeing parts and sales, and driving profitability across the site. Our client is an award-winning, multi-franchise dealer group – officially a Great Place to Work, Motor Trader’s Employer of the Year, and WhatVan?’s Van Dealer of the Year 2026. If you’ve got motor industry aftersales management experience and you know how to lead, motivate, and grow a team, this is the one.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading and inspiring the whole site team to deliver exceptional customer service and hit individual and site goals
- Taking full responsibility and accountability for the Gloucester branch and its success
- Monitoring compliance with all statutory regulations – ensuring both company and manufacturer standards are met
- Controlling cost management for the service department and overall site costs
- Overseeing workshop scheduling and resource allocation to meet customer needs and business targets
- Working with departmental managers (parts, sales, service) to ensure a joined-up, positive approach
- Ensuring site and departmental KPIs are met through robust, hands-on leadership
- Leading and developing apprentices
- Managing, coaching, and motivating employees – regular 121s, appraisals, and PDPs
- Building strong working relationships with customers
- Performance analysis to identify areas of weakness and targeted marketing activity
- Ensuring all health and safety policies are followed, including risk assessments
What You’ll Need
- Extensive motor industry experience in an Aftersales position at management level
- Extensive knowledge of operational workshop running and business administration
- Exceptionally organised – you always know how the team and site are performing
- Experience with customer and market analysis, marketing initiatives, and customer satisfaction
- Proven people management experience – your leadership style is visible and hands-on
- Enthusiasm for continuous improvement – product knowledge for yourself and others
- A flexible, adaptable approach – you thrive in a changing environment
- Computer literate and confident using technology
- You’ll be a great fit if you’re inspirational, strategic, and want to lead a multi-accredited, high-retention employer with genuine progression and manufacturer training.
Think you might be a good fit?
If you’ve got aftersales management experience in the motor industry and you’re ready to take full site responsibility, there’s manufacturer training, a strong benefits package, and an award-winning team that’s been recognised as one of the best places to work in the UK.
