Kemp Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a leading heavy haulage and specialist transport company for an experienced Mobile HGV Technician. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly respected business working on a fleet of HGVs, trailers and STGO (Special Types General Order) vehicles, carrying out maintenance and repairs both in the workshop and at customer sites.

The Role
As a Mobile HGV Technician, you’ll be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing a fleet of specialist commercial vehicles and heavy haulage equipment.
Your duties will include:

• Routine servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults
• Maintenance and repair of HGV tractor units and commercial vehicles
• Servicing and repairing a range of specialist trailers including low loaders, step frame trailers, extendable trailers and heavy haulage trailers
• Working on STGO vehicles used within abnormal load and specialist transport operations
• Carrying out roadside breakdowns and emergency repairs when required
• Performing LOLER and safety inspections where applicable
• Completing brake, suspension, steering and driveline repairs
• Using diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify faults efficiently
• Completing all service documentation and inspection records accurately
• Providing a professional service while representing the company at customer sites

About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous experience as a Mobile HGV Technician, HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or Field Service Engineer
• Experience maintaining and repairing HGVs and commercial trailers
• Exposure to heavy haulage, abnormal load or STGO vehicles would be highly advantageous
• Strong fault-finding skills across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems
• Experience using diagnostic equipment
• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair would be advantageous
• IRTEC accreditation would be beneficial but is not essential
• A full UK driving licence (HGV licence advantageous but not essential)
• A proactive approach and the ability to work independently
