Description
HGV Technician – Stoke
Hours: Rotating shifts – Days: 08:00 – 16:30 / Lates: 14:00 – 22:30 (30-minute unpaid break)
1 in 2 Saturdays, 08:00 – 13:00 – paid at 1.5x overtime rate
On Call Rota available – top up your earnings
Full time, permanent
Earning Potential – Salary:
£46,519 per annum basic (inclusive of shift allowance)
Overtime paid at 1.5x hourly rate
On Call Rota – additional earnings available
Realistic OTE: £50,000 – £55,000 (including overtime and on-call)
Overview
We’re looking for an HGV Technician to join a well-established commercial vehicle specialist in Stoke. This is a proper workshop role with a rotating shift pattern – days and lates – plus 1 in 2 Saturdays paid at overtime, and an On Call Rota to top up your earnings. Our client is a multi-accredited employer with high staff retention, manufacturer training, and genuine progression opportunities. Key Responsibilities
- Performing major and minor repairs to HGVs and commercial vehicles
- Regular inspection and general preventive maintenance services
- Diagnosing faults and completing repairs to manufacturer and DVSA standards
- Maintaining workshop inventory and cleanliness
- Working with repair teams to diagnose and plan vehicle repairs
- Completing job cards and service records accurately
What You’ll Need
- Level 3 qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, or IMI) in HGV Vehicle Repair and Maintenance (essential)
- Proven experience as an HGV Technician
- Ability to identify worn and faulty components in accordance with DVSA Standards
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Full, current UK driving licence – HGV licence beneficial but not essential
