HGV Technician (Nights) – Widnes

Hours: Tuesday – Friday, 20:30 – 07:00 (30-minute unpaid break)
Full time, permanent

Earning Potential – Salary:
£18.91 per hour + 1.333 shift premium = £25.21 per hour
Plus Technician Grade Bonus on top
Overtime paid at 1.5x hourly rate
Realistic OTE: £52,000 – £58,000 (including shift premium and bonus)

Overview
We’re looking for an HGV Technician to join a well-established commercial vehicle specialist in Widnes on the night shift. This is a proper workshop role with a serious shift premium – 1.333 takes your hourly rate to £25.21, plus a Technician Grade Bonus on top. Our client is a multi-accredited employer with high staff retention, manufacturer training, and genuine progression opportunities. Key Responsibilities

• Performing major and minor repairs to HGVs and commercial vehicles
• Regular inspection and general preventive maintenance services
• Diagnosing faults and completing repairs to manufacturer and DVSA standards
• Maintaining workshop inventory and cleanliness
• Working with repair teams to diagnose and plan vehicle repairs
• Completing job cards and service records accurately

What You’ll Need

• Level 2 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance + IRTEC certificate – OR Level 3 qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, or IMI) – essential
• Proven experience as an HGV Technician
• Ability to identify worn and faulty components in accordance with DVSA Standards
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Full, current UK driving licence – HGV licence beneficial but not essential
