Pickup Driver / Relief HGV Driver

Salary: £14.95ph + (Daily Supplement for when driving HGV) + Merit scheme
Hours: Mon-Fri days
Overtime available paid at enhanced rates
Job Summary
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading provider of temporary buildings, modular units and welfare facilities for a Pickup Tow Driver to join their depot team in Exeter.
This is a varied role where you will primarily prepare, clean and maintain towable welfare units, while also providing cover for the depot’s HGV drivers when required.
Key Responsibilities:

• Cleaning and preparing towable welfare units ready for customer delivery.
• Cleaning all internal surfaces, walls and sanitaryware.
• Carrying out minor repairs to walls, doors and fixtures
• Ensuring units are clean, safe and presented to a high standard before delivery.
• Delivering and collecting equipment from customer sites using a pickup vehicle.
• Providing relief cover for the depot’s HGV drivers.
• Safely loading, unloading and positioning units at customer locations.
• Completing vehicle and delivery checks as required.
• Maintaining a professional and customer-focused approach when attending sites

Qualifications

• A full UK manual driving licence with towing entitlement.
• Practical maintenance or caretaking experience.
• A Class 1 / C+E HGV licence is a MUST
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
• Valid Driver CPC.
• Previous wagon and drag experience would be advantageous.
• ALLMI Lorry Loader accreditation D1+E Hook, or equivalent, would be desirable.
• Good practical and mechanical ability.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in your work.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• A professional approach when dealing with customers and working on client sites.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a wider depot team.
• A willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
