Description
Job Title: Stores Person / Parts Assistant
Location: Ipswich
Salary: £28,000 – £35,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
We’re looking for a Stores Person / Parts Assistant to join a small, close-knit depot team in Ipswich.
This is a hands-on warehouse role, focused primarily on preparing and organising parts for engineers. You’ll play an important role in making sure engineers have the correct parts and equipment they need to carry out their work efficiently.
This is a heavily engineer-facing position rather than a customer-facing role, making it ideal for someone who enjoys a practical, organised working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Receiving parts — checking deliveries against purchase orders and booking stock into the system.
- Stock control — maintaining accurate inventory of forklift parts, consumables and accessories.
- Picking parts — finding and issuing parts for engineers, workshops or customer jobs.
- Parts identification — identifying the correct part using forklift model/serial numbers, part numbers and manufacturer information.
- Ordering — raising purchase orders and ordering replacement/urgent parts from suppliers.
- Goods-in / dispatch — packaging and sending parts to customers, branches or engineers.
- Returns and warranty parts — processing incorrect, faulty or warranty-returned components.
- Stock checks — carrying out regular stock takes and investigating discrepancies.
- Keeping the stores organised — labelling, shelving and maintaining a clean, efficient parts area.
- Supporting engineers — making sure engineers have the parts they need for breakdowns, servicing and repairs, sometimes preparing parts kits for jobs.
- Computer work — updating stock records, checking availability and potentially using an ERP/stock management system.
- Health & safety — safe manual handling, correct storage and maintaining a tidy stores environment.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Physically fit and comfortable with a hands-on warehouse role
- Ideally has some previous parts or stores experience
- Organised and able to work efficiently
- Reliable and able to work as part of a small team
- Comfortable working closely with engineers
- Based within approximately 30 minutes of Ipswich
- UK Drivers licence preferred
The Package
- £28,000 – £35,000 salary, depending on experience
- Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm
- Stable, permanent position
- Holiday allowances / pension contributions to be discussed at interview stage
