Earning Potential – Salary:
Up to £16.70 per hour (dependent on experience)
Overtime paid at 1.5x hourly rate
Realistic OTE: £38,000 – £40,500 (including overtime)

Overview
We need a qualified Tail Lift Fitter for a specialist coachbuilding team in Trafford Park. You’ll handle installation, maintenance, LOLER inspections, and repairs on commercial vehicle tail lifts. No fluff – just solid work on hydraulic and electrical systems. Our client is an ISO-accredited employer with high staff retention and a reputation for quality work. Key Responsibilities

• Installing, servicing, and repairing column, tuckaway, cantilever, and passenger tail lifts
• Carrying out LOLER inspections and completing all certification to legal standards
• Diagnosing and repairing vehicle electrical systems – wiring, lighting, control circuits
• Working with hydraulic systems – hose replacement, ram repairs, pump servicing, leak diagnosis
• Integrating tail lifts into new vehicle builds and conversions with the coachbuilding team
• Conducting pre-delivery checks to ensure safety, compliance, and full operation
• Maintaining accurate service records, job sheets, and compliance docs
• Following all health and safety procedures in the workshop

What You’ll Need

• LOLER certification (essential) with proven inspection experience
• Strong knowledge of vehicle wiring and 12V/24V electrical fault-finding
• Solid understanding of hydraulic systems and components
• Previous experience fitting or maintaining tail lifts or similar lifting equipment
• Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and installation manuals
• Full UK driving licence
