Kemp Recruitment are currently working with an established transport operation who are looking for an experienced HGV Technician to join their busy workshop team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled HGV Technician looking for a stable, long-term position with a well-established company. You will play a key role in maintaining the safety, reliability and efficiency of the company’s HGV fleet, ensuring all vehicles are maintained to a high standard and remain fully roadworthy.
The Role – HGV Technician
As an HGV Technician, your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs) and routine servicing on HGVs.
- Diagnosing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
- Using diagnostic equipment, technical information and wiring diagrams to identify faults.
- Carrying out repairs, maintenance and replacement of vehicle components.
- Assisting with the assembly and disassembly of vehicle components.
- Identifying faults and reporting any issues requiring specialist attention.
- Working alongside external maintenance providers when specialist repairs or additional support are required.
- Maintaining accurate records of inspections, repairs and maintenance activities.
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures and current legislation.
- Carrying out general workshop duties and supporting the wider transport operation when required.
- Ensuring vehicles are maintained to a safe and roadworthy standard.
The Ideal HGV Technician
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience working as an HGV Technician, LGV Technician, Vehicle Technician or similar.
- Strong knowledge of HGV mechanical systems.
- Good diagnostic and fault-finding abilities.
- Experience working with mechanical and electrical vehicle systems.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A strong understanding of health and safety and vehicle compliance.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to maintain accurate maintenance records.
- A relevant HGV/Heavy Vehicle Maintenance qualification or equivalent experience.
