Description
The Opportunity
This is a genuinely varied, hands-on position working across a diverse fleet of HGVs, trailers and heavy plant equipment. With two positions available, we are looking for skilled mechanics who can hit the ground running and are confident working across both mechanical and electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out 6-weekly vehicle and trailer inspections and servicing
- Complete preventative maintenance and MOT preparation
- Service and repair telehandlers and plant equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults using Jaltest diagnostic equipment
- Repair and replace engines, transmissions, brakes, AdBlue, ABS and electrical components
- Attend breakdowns, including roadside and customer-site repairs as part of an on-call rota
- Work on hook lift and RORO equipment
- Carry out hydraulic and general mechanical repairs
- Maintain accurate inspection sheets, job sheets and parts records
- Communicate effectively regarding repairs, parts and expected completion times
- Follow all company health & safety procedures
Requirements
- 4+ years’ practical HGV and/or Plant Mechanic experience
- Strong knowledge of multi-brand vehicles
- IRTEC certification
- Good mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
- 6+ years’ experience
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Knowledge of LOLER regulations
- Hook lift / RORO experience
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems

Hours & Pay
£21.46 – £23.00 per hour, depending on experience.
47.5 hours per week (45 working hours plus unpaid lunch breaks), Monday to Friday. Early and late shifts are available, with hours negotiable.
