£51,464 per annum
Overtime paid at 1.5x hourly rate
Overview
We’re looking for a Workshop Controller to join a well-established commercial vehicle specialist in Trafford Park. This is a leadership role – ensuring the workshop runs profitably and efficiently, maximising productivity, and keeping quality and health & safety standards high. If you’ve got supervisory experience in the commercial vehicle industry, this is the one.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring the profitable and efficient operation of the workshop
- Achieving maximum utilisation from productive staff
- Ensuring service process steps are adhered to – processing work efficiently and in line with quality and health & safety standards
- Maintaining high standards of quality and keeping rectification work to a minimum
- Working with Customer Service Reception to ensure the workshop is fully loaded at all times
- Controlling labour efficiency and productivity
- Identifying jobs exceeding allocated times and addressing with the relevant technician/supervisor
- Controlling the day-to-day running of the workshop and liaising with Supervisors and the Business Manager
- Managing the handover of complex or contentious jobs – ensuring customer buy-in and agreement
- Managing Service Department performance – ensuring KPI targets are met
- Ensuring productive staff are aware of their workload and standard times
What You’ll Need
- Previous experience in a supervisory/managerial capacity – preferably within the Commercial Vehicle Industry (essential)
- Technical qualifications equivalent to City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Motor Vehicle Technology, Heavy Vehicle (essential)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Full knowledge of VOSA requirements and MOT testers manual
- Understanding of Operators Licence Laws and Regulations
- Ability to maintain personal technical knowledge and stay up to date on best working practices
- Ability to work well under pressure and on own initiative
- Computer literate – good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
