Workshop Controller – Heathrow | Management Role

Our client, a prestigious vehicle dealership, is seeking an experienced and highly capable Workshop Controller to join their management team in Heathrow.

This is completely off the tools. We are looking for a strong operational leader who can take ownership of workshop performance, manage technician productivity and create structure, discipline and accountability within the workshop.
Working closely with the Service Manager, you will play a key role in driving productivity, efficiency, quality, profitability and customer satisfaction.

The Workshop Controller Role
You will be responsible for the day-to-day operational performance of the workshop, including:

• Managing daily workshop loading and technician capacity
• Allocating work based on technician skills and efficiency
• Monitoring productivity, utilisation and efficiency
• Managing WIP and identifying workflow bottlenecks
• Ensuring jobs are completed within customer deadlines
• Leading, motivating and challenging technicians
• Holding technicians accountable for performance and quality
• Coaching technicians and providing performance feedback
• Working closely with the Service Team to manage customer expectations
• Maximising labour sales and workshop profitability
• Driving improvements in first-time fix and vehicle health check performance
• Ensuring manufacturer, warranty and health & safety standards are maintained
• Supporting the Service Manager with performance management and continuous improvement

About You
The successful Workshop Controller will have:

• Previous Workshop Controller experience within a dealership
• Strong understanding of workshop planning, loading and labour management
• Proven experience improving workshop productivity and efficiency
• Experience managing, motivating and challenging technicians
• Strong commercial awareness
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• A confident and resilient leadership style
• The ability to remain calm and effective under pressure
• A customer-focused and results-driven approach
• Strong IT skills and experience using workshop management systems
