We are currently recruiting for an experienced Depot Operations Lead to join a well-established business within the plant hire and site services industry at their Reading depot.
This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for the day-to-day running of the depot’s yard, washbay and workshop operations. You will lead the operational team, ensuring equipment is prepared, maintained and ready for hire while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and efficiency.
Depot Operations Lead Responsibilities

• Lead, support and motivate operational colleagues across the yard, washbay and workshop
• Plan daily workloads and allocate tasks to ensure the depot operates efficiently
• Ensure all hire equipment is serviced, inspected, prepared and presented to a high standard
• Oversee PDI processes, fleet preparation and asset management
• Manage returned equipment inspections, identify damage and ensure accurate records are maintained
• Work closely with the Hire Desk and Transport teams to ensure customer orders are completed on time
• Maintain effective stock control across equipment, parts and consumables
• Promote a strong Health & Safety culture across the depot
• Complete risk assessments and ensure safe working procedures are followed
• Identify opportunities to improve depot processes, productivity and efficiency
• Monitor overtime and operational costs in line with agreed budgets
• Ensure high standards of housekeeping are maintained throughout the depot

Depot Operations Lead Requirements
The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous experience as a Depot Supervisor, Depot Manager, Operations Supervisor, Workshop Supervisor, Yard Manager or Team Leader
• Previous experience within plant hire, equipment hire, construction, workshop or depot operations
• Proven experience managing or supervising a team
• Good knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices
• Strong organisational and workload planning skills
• Experience working in a fast-paced operational environment
• CPCS, FLT or other relevant operational qualifications would be advantageous
• Full UK driving licence
