Description
Job Title: HGV Technician
Salary: £18.72 per hour + Overtime x 1.5
Location: Leeds
Hours: Monday to Thursday 8am – 4.30pm and Friday 8am – 3.30pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Carrying out routine maintenance, servicing, repairs and modifications on HGV trailers and tankers.
- Diagnosing faults and assisting with fault-finding activities.
- Carrying out repairs in line with warranty procedures and ensuring warranty materials are correctly handled following completion.
- Road testing vehicles where required, subject to holding the relevant HGV licence.
- Reporting vehicle defects and repair requirements to the Workshop Controller.
- Fitting pumps and meters to tanker equipment.
- Carrying out repairs to barrels and tanker bodywork.
- Completing accident damage repairs.
- Fabricating components where required.
- Carrying out tank pressure testing and inspections.
- Working regularly with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
- Maintaining accurate records and following company and manufacturer procedures.
What We’re Looking For:
- NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds Level 3 or IMI equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- A full UK manual driving licence.
- HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) licence is preferred but not essential.
- A strong focus on quality workmanship and attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A proactive approach to identifying and resolving vehicle faults.
