Hire Desk Controller
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, Day Shift

Our client is looking for a proactive, confident, and customer-focused Hire Desk Controller who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem-solving, and can confidently juggle multiple priorities with ease.
The Role – What You’ll Be Doing: As a Hire Desk Controller, you will be the vital link between customers, engineers, transport teams, and depot staff. Your role ensures the right kit gets to the right place at the right time — every time.
Your duties will include:
Customer Service & Coordination
- Handling customer enquiries via telephone, email, and online portals.
- Building strong customer relationships and ensuring excellent client experience.
- Upselling or recommending suitable equipment based on customer needs.
Hire Desk Administration
- Monitoring, updating, and managing live machine availability within the depot system.
- Producing quotes, raising hire contracts, off-hire paperwork, and supporting documents.
- Ensuring all bookings are accurate, timely, and logged correctly.
Operational Support
- Liaising with the engineering team to ensure equipment is serviced, prepped, and ready for hire.
- Coordinating with transport to schedule deliveries, collections, and exchanges efficiently.
- Managing shortages, cross-hires, and last-minute customer requests.
- Keeping communication flowing across teams to maintain smooth depot operations.
General Depot Support
- Assisting with depot queries, administration tasks, and ensuring customer expectations are met.
- Updating systems, maintaining records, and contributing to operational efficiency.

Experience Required:
- Previous experience within Plant Hire, Powered Access, Tools, Lifting Equipment, or Material Handling.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and general systems knowledge.
- Background in a customer-facing or coordination role.
