Job Title: Workshop Supervisor
Shift: Monday to Friday, 730am-4pm
Location: Grantham
Salary: £38,000 basic
Are you a Workshop Supervisor looking for a varied role with a great work-life balance and the opportunity to work on a unique and diverse fleet? We’re looking for a skilled technician to join a well-established operation responsible for maintaining a fleet of 46 gritters and 80 minibuses, along with a range of light commercial vehicles across five sites throughout Lincolnshire.
About the Workshop Supervisor Role: As Workshop Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the workshop, ensuring vehicles are maintained and repaired to a high standard while supporting and supervising the workshop team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supervising the day-to-day activities of the workshop and allocating work to technicians.
- Supporting and managing a team of technicians to ensure work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Carrying out maintenance, servicing, repairs and modifications across the fleet where required.
- Overseeing work primarily on cars and vans, with some HGV and trailer work.
- Monitoring vehicle repairs and ensuring jobs are completed within required timescales.
- Carrying out fault diagnosis and providing technical support to the workshop team.
- Ensuring vehicles are prepared for MOT testing and returned to service safely.
- Supporting with vehicle inspections, preventative maintenance and overhauls.
- Ensuring all workshop procedures comply with company policies, health and safety legislation and industry standards.
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, equipment and workshop safety.
- Liaising with management and other departments regarding vehicle availability, repairs and maintenance requirements.
- Monitoring the quality of workmanship and providing guidance and support to technicians.
- Assisting with the development and training of workshop staff.
The Successful Workshop Supervisor Will Have:
- Recognised industry qualifications, such as City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3, in Heavy Vehicle Service, Maintenance and Repair or a similar discipline.
- Previous experience within a commercial vehicle, LCV or HGV workshop.
- Previous supervisory or team-leading experience within a workshop environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of vehicle maintenance, servicing and repair.
- Experience working on LCVs, with HGV and trailer experience highly desirable.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to prioritise workload and manage a busy workshop environment.
- A strong understanding of health and safety requirements.
- The ability to lead by example and maintain high standards of workmanship.
